Self-Regulatory Organization - SRO
Self-Regulatory Organization is a non-government organization with regulatory rights and responsibility to regulate and enforce standards. Responsibility is given in order to conduct fair, efficient and ethical practices, protect investors from fraudulent traders, promote, and maintain healthy environment for investing.
For example, national securities exchanges and NASD (National Association of Securities Dealers) are self-regulatory organizations.
