Special Dividend

Special Dividend is a non-recurring dividend paid out by the company. Special Dividend is larger than the standard dividend, and is also called extra dividend.
Special dividends are often paid out to shareholders when the company declares strong company results, and wants to distribute profits. In addition, special dividends are paid out when the company wants to restructure its financial configuration, or to spin off a subsidiary company to shareholders.
