Forced Conversion

A conversion of a convertible security against the will of the holder, forced by the issuer who exercise his right to call the issue.
Issuer will usually force the conversion when the price of the underlying security is above the conversion price or when interest rates decline drastically.
Forced conversion is, in general, unfavorable for the holders of the securities.
