Fourth Market

The direct trading of securities that are listed on the exchange market over an electronic communication network, over the counter. These trading are usually conducted between large institutions in large stock blocks, without a broker.

By trading in the Fourth Market, large brokerage fees and global impacts on the market prices are avoided, as well as distortion of volume traded on public exchanges, like NYSE or Nasdaq.
