Fractional Share
A share of equity that is less than one full share.
Normally, you can’t buy less than on share on the market, but when the company has the 3-for-2 stock split you can end up with fractional share.
For example, you have 5 shares of some company which has 3-for-2 stock split. You should get 7.5 shares total, but the company would usually round up the number of shares and give you 8 shares.
