Payment For Order Flow
Payment For Order Flow is a compensation to a brokers who direct orders to other market makers.
Small brokerages can’t handle great number of orders, so they will usually direct orders to different parties to be executed. These brokerages will receive a small payment, usually a penny per stock, from market makers who gains extra share volume to handle.
